The RA Culture Ministry under the patronage of the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan and Open Doors Cultural Fund of the National Assembly hold Children-Youth Republican Recitation Contest-Festival, which was dedicated to the 125th birth anniversary of the Armenian well-known poet Vahan Terian. The Children-Youth Republican Recitation Contest-Festival was first time held in 2009 again under the patronage of the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan. The aim of the festival is to try to focus the attention of the young generation on the Armenian poetry, sow in the coming generation the love rebirth towards the Armenian language and poetry, make continuous the rich traditions of the Armenian recitation.
The contest-festival is held in three phases in two age groups, it will be concluded in Yerevan. The festival will be hosted in Javakhk.
Thousands of schoolchildren of 11-17 age in the schools of the marzes of Armenia, Javakhk and Artsakh have already taken part in the first phase of the festival. On October 1 in Sevan the second marz phase of the festival, which also attended the NA deputies Hrant Madatyan and Tachat Vardapetyan.
In his speech the governor of Gegharkunik Nver Poghosyan thanked the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan for initiating and sponsoring such events.
The NA deputy Tachat Vardapetyan conveyed the festival participants and those present the best wishes of the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan and noted that the festival being held under the patronage of the NA President had undeniable role in the upbringing of the young generation. The deputy stressed the NA President’s special attitude towards art and culture.
The representative of RA Ministry of Culture Karo Vardanyan considered important the appreciation of poet Vahan Terian by the state high officials too, and its vivid evidence is this festival being held on the direct initiative of the President of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan.
About 30 schoolchildren of the schools of Gegharkunik Marz recited Vahan Terian’s works.
At the end of the contest-festival the jury made a decision about 6 winners, who would take part in the final phase of the festival being held in Yerevan.
